Yaspa started in 2017 as ‘Citizen’, a company with the vision of connecting identity and payments. Over the years, our product offering has evolved and sometimes pivoted a little, but that focus has remained the same. We believe there is a sweet spot in the combination of payment and identity data that will dramatically improve payment velocity, security and consumer trust. We use open banking to power real-time payments and instant verification. For operators, that means lower costs, stronger security, and faster growth. For customers, it’s a simple, seamless experience every time.

In June 2025 we were delighted to announce Series A led by Discerning Capital, which will ensure our growth continues not just across Europe but also entering the US market.

The role involves joining our London based squad to work on our payments platform that’s powered by open banking, as well as our safer iGaming platform. You’ll help to build new products and improve our existing payments based offering, playing a key role in helping the company move from its startup roots to cement its position as an enterprise grade financial platform.

We want exemplary developers, ideally familiar with building enterprise systems, who can work in a fast paced environment within an agile team; who understands how IT systems are built and managed. You’ll be joining a tight-knit multidisciplinary team of front-end and back-end developers; testers; UX and product - reporting directly to the CTO.

Experience in any of the following industries is a plus: financial industry, open banking, iGaming, startups, or enterprise companies performing real time processing.

You will be expected to have the following:

  • 4+ years commercial experience with Java
  • Good understanding of JVM (memory model, concurrency, data structures)
  • Spring framework, Spring Boot
  • Maven
  • Knowledge of REST APIs & Microservices
  • MongoDB
  • JUnit and TDD

Nice to haves:

  • AWS
  • Kotlin
  • Redis
  • Knowledge of Linux

Hours: Full time

Location: London - Hybrid WFH model, x2 days a week onsite (Wed/Thurs)

  • Flexible hours and hybrid working - We are in the office 2 days a week (typically Wednesdays and Thursdays in London), where we collaborate and learn from each other. This is matched by the balance of WFH to allow you to manage your days autonomously.
  • Choice of tech - It’ll probably be a Macbook, but we do give you the choice of which machinery you’d like to work on just in case you’re a die-hard Linux or Microsoft user.
  • WFH set-up allowance - Along with your new laptop, we will also provide you an allowance so you can get your perfect set up sorted.

  • Mental and physical health support - We provide you with an app that’s specially tailored to support your health, as well as access to 24-hour advice and free GP appointments. You can also access counselling and use the app for all parts of your life.
  • Generous holiday allowance - As well as all the UK public bank holidays, you get 28 days of holiday to enjoy and take as you’d like. Emails off, sunnies on!
  • Matched pension (up to 3% matched contributions) - For planning ahead!
