Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)

  • Lead the day to day operations
  • Sit as an ex-officio member on the YGCC Board of Directors
  • Develop operating budgets and administer those budgets on an ongoing basis by monitoring and tracking revenues and expenses
  • Hire, train, coach and develop a successful and enthusiastic team, engaging in performance management and positive coaching and counseling as needed
  • Manage scheduling in accordance with employment policies and budget targets
  • Ensure that payroll is carried out accurately and on time
  • In partnership with the course superintendent and the Board of Directors, oversee all repair, upgrading, maintenance, and cleaning of all club buildings and equipment
  • Promote the use of the YGCC facilities (hall, course, rink, kitchen) for special events
  • Complete scheduled inventories and ensure stock for golf, curling, and the canteen/bar are on hand when needed
  • Maintain membership lists and ensure dues are paid in accordance with the rules set by the Board of Directors
  • Strive to improve the YGCC through innovation, technology, and forward thinking
  • Other duties as required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas, and prepare reports
  • Strong customer service orientation to include increasing customer satisfaction, meeting customer expectations, solving customer problems, soliciting opinions and ideas from customers and responding effectively
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated to maintain up-to-date knowledge of golf & curling business through learning opportunities, turning feedback into ways for improvement, seeking training that will enhance skills and staying current with industry trends
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Completion of High School Education (Grade 12) is required
  • Criminal record check
  • Being an avid golfer and curler is of great value

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
  • Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
  • Significant exposure to varying weather conditions
