About The Unit

We are part of the global company Yara International ASA and are a leader in the product development, manufacture and marketing of speciality nutrients & biostimulant products for use in regenerative agriculture worldwide.

This role is currently based in Pocklington but, to support business growth, a new Global Production plant is currently being built in Howden and the role will be based from mid‑2026 onwards.

We are seeking an Apprentice Quality Assurance Technician to provide support to the Operations department, with a focus on assurance of processes, quality and supporting production for a global business that exports to over 60 countries.

If you are interested, this opportunity allows you to learn practical skills, earn a salary and study for a qualification. The role will be based on site five days a week, with approximately four days per week of practical work experience in the Quality Control laboratory and one day per week studying for the Quality Assurance Practitioner apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in issues relating to quality incidents and non‑conformances.
  • Support in the production of KPIs on quality assurance processes, including quality incidents, non‑conformances and customer complaints, and monitor these in the electronic log.
  • Help maintain the QC department\’s documentation system and records in accordance with all appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Develop towards being the first point of contact for requests from the regulatory affairs department.
  • Provide quality support to plant operations as needed.
  • Support the plant trials procedure in relation to quality assurance.
  • Assist in the process for third‑party analysis samples as per individual markets and regulatory requirements.
  • Support production of appropriate certification for registration and importation of YaraVita and YaraAmplix tested products where required.
  • Ensure all associated paperwork is completed properly, accurately and on time.

  • Good standard of IT literacy.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines and balance priorities.
  • Discipline and self‑motivation to balance the challenges of a job and studying for a qualification.

We will provide professional support and opportunity for the experiences required for passing the Quality Assurance Apprenticeship, which covers the main headings of Quality Planning, Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Continuous Improvement. If you have a degree/qualification in a similar topic/subject matter at the same level as the apprenticeship then you will not be eligible for this vacancy due to government funding requirements.
