In the fast paced work of FinTech Open Banking, where innovation meets financial services, we are seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer to support our Platform Infrastructure team. As a Junior Cloud Engineer at Yapily, you will support the team in maintaining, learning about, and contributing to our Cloud Infrastructure. You will join a small, but efficient team growing from startup towards enterprise, where you will help us maintain the foundation of how we deploy, store, observe and operate in a regulated multi-national FinTech environment.

Requirements

  • Supporting new infrastructure capabilities: Assisting the team in building and documenting new solutions that enable our engineering team to utilise the best and most efficient parts of the cloud.
  • Contributing to the developer experience: Helping to maintain and test infrastructure templates and automation scripts to ensure a safe and easy development process.
  • Maintaining infrastructure and code deployment flows: Working on deployment pipelines to ensure engineers can build securely and follow all our guidelines and certifications.
  • Monitoring infrastructure costs: Assisting the team in reviewing and identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies.
  • Collaborating with engineers: Embracing the DevOps culture by working together with engineers to make sure everything works.
  • Learning and participating in SRE activities: Training to eventually join the SRE on-call rotation, which is part of the group ensuring Yapily stays up, come rain or snow.

What You'll Bring

  • Basic Cloud concepts: Familiarity with the fundamental concepts of cloud computing on AWS, GCP or Azure, and a strong desire to learn best practices for using and operating cloud infrastructure.
  • Scripting or Automation: Basic knowledge of scripting (e.g., shell, Python, Ruby, or Golang) and a passion for automating repetitive tasks.
  • Containerization fundamentals: An understanding of container concepts, such as Docker, and a willingness to learn about Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Familiarity with IaaC: Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code principles and tools like OpenTofu/Terraform, Packer, or Ansible.
  • Networking fundamentals: Basic knowledge of networking concepts around TCP/IP, Firewalling and VPCs.
  • Security awareness: An understanding of security principles and an interest in learning how to build secure-by-default infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
  • Awareness of regulated workflows: Exposure to concepts like ISO27001, SOC2, or GDPR.
  • Observability tools: Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Loki, or Grafana.
  • CI/CD process understanding: Knowledge of how CI/CD pipelines work and an interest in learning how to apply templates and guardrails for safe code deployment.
