Part‑time Dental Hygienist – Lancaster Family Health Center, Salem, OR.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program
  • Active Dental Hygiene License with Restorative Function Endorsement
  • CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred at a level 10
  • Knowledge of standard dental practices and current hygiene concepts
  • Ability to deliver care to patients of all ages and backgrounds
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills
  • High level of manual dexterity and coordination
  • Basic computer proficiency (Electronic Dental Records, Outlook, Word, Excel)

Position Highlights

  • 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)
  • EMR system: EPIC
  • $49.57–$61.34 per hour DOE
  • Additional pay for bilingual skills (paid on hours worked)
  • Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure – $5,000 total
  • At Hire: $1,500
  • At 180 days (6 months): $2,000
  • At 12 months: $1,500
  • Bonus pro‑rated based on Full‑Time Equivalency (FTE)

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventative periodontal care including scaling, prophylaxis, root planing, sealants, and application of preventative agents
  • Perform expanded functions as permitted by licensure, including placing and carving restorations and managing temporary crowns
  • Take and manage dental X‑rays; complete periodontal charting and maintain accurate patient records
  • Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia as needed
  • Educate and counsel patients on oral hygiene and preventative care; develop hygiene treatment plans in collaboration with providers
  • Assist providers during exams and ensure operatories and instruments meet infection‑control standards
  • Support clinic efficiency, quality initiatives, and compliance with TJC, HRSA, and YVFWC requirements
