About the role..
A techno-functional consultant is required to support and evolve a major bank lending platform built on FIS ALS, currently undergoing mainframe modernisation.
The role sits with the ALS development team.
You will turn business need into specifications a mainframe developer can build from, and tests that prove the change behaved as specified.
The work is inside the system: tracing why an account behaved as it did, identifying the parameter driving it, verifying overnight cycle output, and reconciling what ALS sends downstream against what arrives.
This is a hands‑on technical role, not a coordination role.
Requirements
Essential skills
- Hands‑on FIS ALS experience. This is a hard requirement and cannot be substituted by general lending experience.

- Working knowledge of the mainframe stack underpinning ALS: COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS.
- Specification craft: Business Requirement Documents, Functional Requirement Documents, functional and technical specifications, acceptance criteria, current- and future-state process mapping.
- Requirements elicitation through workshops and stakeholder interviews.
- Ability to specify interfaces, batch processing, file‑based feeds and data mapping between ALS, core banking and treasury systems.
- SQL and RDBMS concepts, sufficient to validate your own analysis.
