The Role
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Compliance function within the Risk & Compliance Department.
- Promote a strong compliance culture at Y TREE.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of compliance policies.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of compliance training.
- Regulatory Oversight & Advisory
- Ensure Y TREE’s compliance framework and processes are maintained in accordance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., SYSC, SUP, COBS, MIFIDPRU, GEN, MAR, Money Laundering Regulations, etc.).
- Provide advice on various situations, issues, and transactions arising in the business.
- Assess and advise management on the impact of changing regulatory legislation and requirements, as well as regulatory events or issues.
- Manage Y TREE’s FCA reporting.
- Financial Crime & Operations
- Oversee the development of Y TREE’s AML and Financial Crime strategy by the MLRO.
- First Line Interaction (Onboarding): Oversee and manage interactions regarding onboarding, KYC refresh, etc., with the Client Team.
- First Line Interaction: Act as the lead liaison with Product, Operations, and the First Line of Defence (Client Team) regarding the risk framework and control environment.
- Assurance, Governance & Reporting
- Develop and implement an annual comprehensive Compliance Monitoring Plan to monitor all functions in Y TREE, ensuring they are adequately implementing the requirements of the compliance framework.
- Investigate suspected breaches of regulatory requirements or internal compliance policies and resolve them appropriately.
- Lead the firm’s work on Consumer Duty, including the annual review and production of the annual report.
- Consider and critically evaluate regulatory requirements and risks for new business and new products.
- Proactively participate in the design and structuring of new products, services, and systems to ensure they fully meet relevant regulatory requirements.
- Provide reports on compliance matters to the Board, senior management, and the business to assist in the achievement of business objectives in a controlled and compliant manner.
- Provide senior management with regular MI/KPIs on Y TREE’s compliance programme.
About You
- Proven track record in compliance within wealth and asset management.
- Demonstrable experience in structuring and running assurance programmes.
- Extremely high degree of fluency with large language models (LLMs) and AI.
- Proven ability to design and scale compliance frameworks within a fast-growing, technology-led wealth management environment.
- Intimate knowledge of FCA rules, supervision frameworks, policymaking, etc.
- Excellent understanding of the Money Laundering Regulations, regulatory requirements, and the wider AML environment.
- A sound understanding of wealth and asset management products and business.
- Highly effective communication skills (written and spoken).
- Ability to engage and influence others.
- Diligence and fortitude.
- Professional qualification (e.g., membership in a professional compliance association).
