Team Overview
The Platform Engineering team is a vital part of our Tech function based in the UK. As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will play a key role in creating and supporting the AWS platforms as well as completing detailed handovers to the Platform Support team in order to support the overall platform. We are looking for an experienced, passionate engineer with a can-do attitude who is excited at the prospect of building a business in the emerging world of personal finance.
The Role
- Collaborate within a high-performing engineering team to architect and deliver scalable AWS platforms, while simultaneously managing high-availability, on-premises Kubernetes clusters powered by Proxmox and Talos Linux.
- Ensure that all projects have a robust requirement gathering process that allows all technical areas to be involved and aware of new technical solutions to aid in the adoption and understanding of new technologies.
- Communicate risk and issues to appropriate team members through security and risk analysis.
- Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor moderately complex programs/scripts.
- Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Using Terraform/OpenTofu (IaC) create and document large scale platforms alongside other members of the team.
- Design and refine components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
- Support with the creation of reports, technology road mapping and sharing of insights which evaluate emerging technologies and their potential impact.
- Define and manage scoping requirements definition and prioritisation activities for small-scale changes and assist with more complex change initiatives.
- Assist in the configuration of software and equipment and the systems testing of platform-specific versions of one or more software products.
- Document faults, implement resolutions and retest to agreed standards.
- Contribute to the availability management process and its operation and perform defined availability management tasks.
- Define and manage the required behaviour and performance of the system, product or service in terms of the total user experience, resolving potential conflicts between different user requirements.
