Overview

The Advice Quality & Training Specialist protects and raises the quality of the advice we give, and builds the team's capability to deliver it. Working within the Client Team's Quality Assurance and Learning & Development frameworks, this role delivers the day-to-day running of the suitability review programme, performs first-pass checks on advice sign-offs, keeps our procedures and knowledge base accurate, and designs and delivers technical training to our analysts.

The Role

  • Suitability & advice-quality assurance
    • Deliver the day-to-day running of the annual suitability review programme: scheduling, pulling files, executing file reviews across the pods, maintaining the live Issues & Actions tracker, drafting findings for review, and chasing remediation to closure.
    • Perform first-pass review of advice checklist sign-offs: clear standard cases within defined criteria, and flag high-risk or borderline cases for senior sign-off against a written trigger.
    • Audit operational-risk incidents for recurring patterns and propose systemic fixes.
  • Training & knowledge (Learning & Development)
    • Design and deliver technical training and coaching for analysts on the concepts behind our advice (for example pensions, CGT, suitability, the advice building blocks).
    • Own the drafting and upkeep of procedure guides, technical briefing notes and training materials, and maintain the Client Team knowledge base, working within the knowledge architecture owned by the Lead.
  • Change & proposition support
    • Support the rollout of new propositions led by the Lead, building and releasing reusable process templates.

About You

  • Technical Skills
    • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or working toward it), or an equivalent paraplanner / advice / compliance background.
    • A sound understanding of FCA requirements, Consumer Duty and suitability.
    • Strong technical writing and the confidence to teach; comfort with AI tools, GitHub and Confluence.
  • Skills to Demonstrate
    • Translating complex strategy and compliance into clear documentation and training.
    • Sound judgement about when to clear, when to flag and when to escalate.
    • Structured, empathetic communication.
  • Personal Characteristics
    • Exceptional attention to detail and real satisfaction in bringing order to messy data.
    • Analytical, root-cause thinking.
    • Persistent, collaborative communication, including chasing external providers.
    • Comfortable working alongside non-technical colleagues, and able to explain a data problem in plain English.
    • Curious about how a business actually works — who relies on what, and what breaks when it's wrong.
    • A habit of noticing a manual, repetitive process and fixing it without being asked.

What's in it for you?

  • Once eligible, you'll be able to enroll onto our private healthcare plan through Vitality.
  • Support for your mental health and wellbeing through our employee assistance programme.
  • 25 days of annual leave per year.

  • A range of family-friendly policies, support towards professional qualifications, electric car schemes and more!
