Team Overview

The Talent Experience team shapes the environment in which Y TREE’s people and leaders thrive, covering recruitment, performance, culture and our ways of working.

The Performance area sits at the heart of this, partnering with managers across the business to raise leadership capability and create a fair, legally sound environment where teams can do their best work.

This role reports into the Lead Performance Partner and works closely with them, alongside the wider Talent team (Operations and Attraction) to support the team’s strategic direction.

As a senior member of the Performance team, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy and partner directly with senior leaders to help shape and embed the priorities that keep teams performing sustainably over time.

The Role

At its core, Performance Partnering at Y TREE is about working alongside managers to help them build, shape and get the best out of their teams.

As Senior Performance Partner, you’ll be a trusted partner to managers across the business, spotting friction early, whether that’s a team member feeling under-supported, a structural issue in how a team is set up, or an emerging capability gap, and co-creating practical, tailored solutions with them.

Employee relations is also an important part of the role, you’ll need sound employment law judgement and genuine confidence handling disciplinaries, grievances and other formal casework when they arise.

You’ll also contribute to the broader performance frameworks and projects led by the Lead Performance Partner, and you will use AI tools confidently and naturally in your day-to-day work, from drafting documentation to researching policy questions, to creating more efficient ways of working more efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to managers, helping them build stronger, better-functioning teams.
  • Co-create tailored, practical solutions with line managers, drawing on the specifics of their team and wider business context.
  • Support managers in identifying and addressing early performance concerns before they need to become formal processes.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of performance management frameworks, goal-setting processes and feedback mechanisms, working closely with the Lead Performance Partner.
  • Support onboarding and probation design, ensuring managers set clear expectations and give new hires the support to succeed from day one.
  • Use insight from casework, engagement and performance data to flag risks and improvement opportunities to the Lead Performance Partner.
  • Own and deliver projects within the Performance area, managing timelines and stakeholders independently.
  • Manage employee relations casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, performance improvement plans and workplace investigations, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Coach managers through complex ER conversations, providing practical guidance grounded in employment law and Y TREE’s policies.
  • Draft and maintain ER documentation and case files to a high standard, ensuring accurate record-keeping and legal defensibility.
  • Stay current on UK employment law and case law developments, ensuring Y TREE’s policies and practices remain compliant.
  • Use AI tools to speed up casework documentation, policy research and reporting, while maintaining the judgement and discretion ER work requires.

  • Technical Skills
  • Proven experience as a Senior People Partner, HRBP or similar, with a track record of proactively coaching and influencing managers to build stronger teams.
  • Solid grounding in UK employment law, with hands-on experience managing disciplinaries, grievances and other ER casework from start to finish.
  • Confident using AI tools (e. g. Gemini, Claude) day-to-day to draft documentation, research policy questions and improve how you work.
  • A track record of delivering projects and being able to plan, manage stakeholders and see initiatives through to completion.
  • Experience in fintech or financial services, ideally within an FCA-regulated environment, is a plus.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent), demonstrating a solid grounding in HR practice and employment law fundamentals, is a plus.
