Function: Engineering Design
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Design team, supporting the delivery of advanced water treatment and electrochlorination systems. This is a role for someone who thrives on technical depth, cross-functional collaboration, and seeing designs through from enquiry to commissioning.
The RoleWorking under the direction of the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in interpreting client specifications and translating them into detailed, high-quality engineering designs. You’ll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle — from enquiry and proposal support through to execution and commissioning — ensuring our systems are technically robust, compliant, and aligned to client and regulatory standards.
What You’ll Be Responsible For- Interpreting and digesting customer technical requirements and contract documentation
- Producing process calculations, pump sizing calculations and hydraulic designs
- Creating and defining PFDs and P&IDs
- Producing equipment data sheets, specifications, and schedules
- Selecting and detailing valves, instruments and associated equipment
- Supporting plant layout development, including:
- Pipework system design
- Chemical storage and transfer systems
- Compressed air treatment systems
- Pneumatic control system designs
You’ll work closely with Mechanical Designers, Electrical Engineers, Procurement, Production, QA, Project Managers and global colleagues — as well as external clients, vendors and inspectors.
What We’re Looking ForEssential:- HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering (Degree desirable)
- Strong ability to interpret complex technical specifications and diagrams
- Confident representing the company professionally with customers
- Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking
- Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes
- Commercial awareness and understanding of engineering costs
- High attention to detail
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Well organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Good level of computer literacy
- Experience with electrochlorination packages or chemical process equipment
- Structural steelwork construction and welding knowledge
- Knowledge of ATEX, IECEx and HAZOP
- Familiarity with major petrochemical specifications (e.g. BP, Shell)
- AutoCAD experience
