We work in partnership with Our Future Health, a pioneering UK health research programme and registered charity, which is collaborating with the NHS to help transform the prevention, detection and treatment of major health conditions such as cancer, dementia, heart disease, diabetes and stroke. We are seeking motivated and compassionate Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs) to join our team and support the delivery of the Our Future Health programme within mobile clinic settings. As a Health Care Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting clinical assessments, ensuring a positive participant experience, and maintaining high standards of care, quality and safety. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help facilitate the smooth operation of mobile clinics and support participants throughout their research journey. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about patient care, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, and are committed to supporting innovative healthcare and research programmes that aim to improve the health of future generations.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will support the delivery of the Our Future Health programme within mobile clinic settings, ensuring participants receive a safe, professional and high‑quality service.
- Undertake clinical assessments including blood pressure, pulse, height, weight and waist measurements.
- Perform venepuncture and collect blood samples in line with clinical protocols.
- Monitor participant wellbeing and escalate concerns to the appropriate clinician.
- Prepare, label, store and package biological samples accurately.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and follow established procedures.
- Support the efficient flow of participants through the mobile clinic.
- Provide operational and administrative support for clinic activities.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, clinical areas and consumables.
- Assist with participant enquiries and documentation as required.
- Report incidents, accidents and near misses in line with organisational policy, including Datix reporting where appropriate.
- Contribute to audits, investigations and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, confidentiality and information governance standards.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety, infection prevention and safeguarding requirements.

- Hours: Full‑time or part‑time, flexible working; Monday to Friday 07:50 – 18:10; Saturday 08:50 – 17:10 (England only); Sunday 10:50 – 15:55
- Pay Rates: HCA Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland: Monday‑Friday £19 per hour, Sunday £26 per hour; HCA England: Monday‑Friday £20 per hour, Saturday £25 per hour, Sunday £28 per hour
Role responsibilities
- Clinical Duties: Blood pressure, pulse, height & weight, waist measurement; venous blood sampling; monitor participant welfare; prepare, label and package samples.
- Operational & Governance: Support participant flow; provide on‑site operational and administrative support; incident reporting (Datix); contribute to audits, investigations and quality improvement.
Essential Experience
- Minimum 12 months phlebotomy experience
- Outpatient or similar clinical experience
- Basic Life Support trained (ILS/ALS desirable)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Flexibility to travel
- First Aid training
- Experience supporting service improvement
- Driving licence
- Manual driving licence with no points.
Qualifications
- Phlebotomy or Venepuncture – minimum 12 months
