The Feminist Justice Coalition seeks experienced lawyers and barristers to supervise law students from leading UK universities. Contribute up to 5 hours weekly, guiding casework that supports women in the justice system while mentoring the next generation of legal changemakers.

What are we looking for?
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Academic (England & Wales or equivalent jurisdiction).
- Experience in criminal justice, prison law, public law, human rights, family law, or related areas desirable but not essential.
- Strong legal drafting and review skills – able to supervise letters, complaints, submissions, and casework prepared by students.
- Mentorship and leadership ability – patience, empathy, and willingness to guide law students in trauma‑informed practice.
- Commitment to feminist and anti‑racist principles – understanding of systemic inequalities affecting women in the justice system.
- Excellent communication skills – able to provide clear, constructive feedback and ensure accuracy in casework.
- Organisational awareness – capable of overseeing multiple student case assignments and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Flexibility and reliability – able to dedicate at least 5 hours per week, remotely or in person, with consistency.
- Trauma‑informed approach – sensitivity to clients’ lived experiences and ability to safeguard dignity and rights.
- Collaborative mindset – willingness to work with other supervisors, advocacy partners, and the Coalition’s leadership team.
What will you be doing?
- Supervise and review casework prepared by law students.
- Provide legal guidance on prison law, public law, human rights, probation issues, and complaints processes.
- Support students in drafting letters, complaints, submissions, and research.
- Ensure legal accuracy, ethical practice, and trauma‑informed approaches.
- Attend one monthly trauma supervision and training session (trauma‑informed practice).
- Help shape the development of a pioneering pro bono law centre dedicated to women's justice.
