Shift : Nights: Monday – Thursday, 19:00 – 06:00

Reporting to: Heat Treatment Manager

Our customers include the top motorsports racing series including Formula One, Le Mans, IndyCar and NASCAR and we also supply transmissions for the most exclusive high-performance cars in the world. We are at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation opportunity as the automotive industry transitions from internal combustion to electric and hybrid and our experienced and dedicated teams are using the latest cutting-edge technology to achieve this transition.

About the Role

To undertake the processes of the Shot Peen department to high levels of quality and to production schedules.

  • To shot peen components to required in-house specifications using both nozzle & wheel machines
  • To carry out verification of the process by performing saturation curves, intensity checks (Almen strips), building coverage & shot shape/size checks
  • Be able to create setup sheets & quality documentation
  • Additional Skills (training provided)
  • Automated Deburring/Chamfering of components.
  • Straightening of components.

Day to Day

  • To process and manufacture components using engineering drawings
  • To competently operate machinery within the department and in other departments if/when required.
  • To undertake department processes in a controlled and timely manner.
  • To adhere to department standards and create records including quality certificates and process sheets.
  • To maintain and carry out preventative maintenance programmes to all equipment.
  • Advise on tooling, jigs and fixtures.
  • To undertake personal development reviews, training and assessments.
  • To observe the Health and Safety rules at all times.
  • To follow and adhere to company quality procedures and be competent in Xtrac operational procedures and controls.
  • To carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by management.

About You

Education, Qualifications and Training (E=Essential, D=Desirable)

Mechanical/Engineering background (E)

Knowledge

Able to interpret engineering drawings, follow processes and documentation (E)

A demonstrable knowledge of shot peen equipment, techniques and operating procedures (E)

A demonstrable knowledge of Shot Peen verification, including – Saturation Curves, Intensity & Coverage (E)

Audit awareness and corrective action problem solving skills (D)

A full driving licence (D)

Basic PC Skills (D)

Experience

Working unsupervised (E)
