About the Role

  • Use heat treatment knowledge and experience to assist the Heat Treatment Manager in delegating and managing workflow to achieve the required levels of quality and output.
  • Ensure that operations carried out by their team and visitors are conducted in accordance with the relevant safety documentation or policies, including but not limited to Risk Assessments (or RAMS), COSHH Assessments, and required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensure safe working practices are in place by liaising with the H&S team or department manager to escalate any issues or incidents.
  • Ensure that any daily, weekly, or monthly checks are completed.
  • Ensure that new team members are trained in accordance with the company and work‑area induction pack.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the team always maintains clean and tidy work areas using the 5S methodology.
  • Participate in and utilise their skills to solve work‑related problems by generating RFCs, investigating NCRs, and scrap booking reasons.
  • Ensure team members report any quality or manufacturing issues to the manufacturing support department.
  • Ensure that written processes, procedures, and standards are kept up‑to‑date and reflect best practice.
  • Ensure that team members adhere to written processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure that set‑up sheets are in place and used correctly.
  • Ensure that all measuring devices in their team’s area are within calibration date; any items out of date shall be made available for calibration.
  • Assist the department manager to maintain department KPIs.
  • Be responsible for managing the team’s workload and adherence to the ‘Work to List Rules’ to ensure the department KPIs are met.

About You

Knowledge
  • Leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
  • Good understanding of the heat treatment process.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Ideally, good understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools (5S).
  • Understanding of transmission components.
Experience
  • Aware of production environments.
  • Experience working in a heat treatment environment.
  • Experience in motorsport, automotive, or aerospace environments.
Skills/Abilities
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work precisely according to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Good levels of integrity, confidence, independence, and collaboration skills.
  • Good organisational skills and a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
