About Us
XRnostics is an exciting, innovative spinout company born out of a world‑class research collaboration between King's College London and Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We bring together leading clinical experts and world‑class imaging scientists to revolutionise education, training and the planning of cardiac procedures using immersive imaging. Our mission is to pioneer advanced virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) solutions for hospital sites within the UK and across Europe, medical device companies, and the medical education sector. We are currently expanding our international, diverse team with talented and motivated engineers looking for meaningful, long‑term career prospects.
To further develop our flagship product, HeartVR™, for commercialization, we are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d) to join us for an initial 6‑month period (with a view to extension).
Your Responsibilities
- Bridge the gap between advanced backend architecture, immersive VR/AR visualization, and real‑world clinical deployment.
- Further develop and optimise the backend and user experience for our core VR/AR software platform.
- Deliver critical software engineering aspects, including QMS compliance, software specification, seamless dataset loading, advanced rendering, and scene manipulation.
- Enhance XR usability by creating interactive training tutorials and streamlining deployment pipelines.
- Take the product directly to clinical testing sites in the UK and mainland Europe, handling software installation, providing hands‑on user training, and collaborating closely with medical professionals.
- Collect direct feedback from clinical users and implement required or desired features into the product roadmap.
Your Profile
- Professional experience in software backend development and working with VR tools and headsets (e.g. Meta).
- Strong proficiency in C#, C/C++, and Python (ideally with FastAPI experience).
- Strong hands‑on experience with game engines such as Unity and Unreal.
- Experience with Shader programming (e.g. HLSL), performance optimisation and advanced rendering.
- Experience implementing automated and manual testing, including unit, integration, regression, and system testing.
- Solid background in code management (Git) and experience with project management software (e.g. Jira).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed, multidisciplinary environment.
- The capability or desire to lead or mentor a small, agile engineering team.
- An interest in medical visualization and clinical applications.
- Experience with medical imaging tools (e.g. ImageToolkit, 3D Slicer).
- Familiarity with medical image formats (e.g. DICOM, NIfTI).
- Experience developing multi‑user or networked XR applications.
- Experience with AI tools (e.g. PyTorch) and agentic AI.
- Experience in cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerisation (Docker).
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs at scale.
Why Join XRnostics?
- Impactful Work: Your code will directly help doctors plan complex cardiac procedures, ultimately saving and improving patient lives.
- Cutting‑Edge Tech: Work at the absolute forefront of medical imaging and XR.
- Flexibility: We offer this position as either a full‑time post or part‑time posts to suit your lifestyle.
- Growth: Join an early‑stage spin‑out with a competitive salary and excellent long‑term career prospects upon successful commercialisation.
- Diversity: Be part of an international, passionate and highly collaborative team based in the heart of London.
