The Technical Analyst role is within the ASG Team, which is one of XPS Administration’s central services teams. Their main objective is to maintain and strengthen XPS Administration’s processes, ensure XPS and trustees provide a compliant service, enable enhancements to services, promote good quality pensions administration and provide pensions training. In addition, they provide support to the admin teams on technical pensions and process issues. The successful applicant will focus on analysing and reviewing legislative and regulatory developments in relation to private and public sector pension schemes, working with other Technical Analysts within the ASG team and other relevant groups/individuals within the Administration Business.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of legislative update reports for private and public sector schemes (e.g., changes of law, consultations and budget)
- Act as the first stage legislative/technical contact within the ASG Team
- Review key developments and legislative updates by researching and analysing primary source materials and websites
- Conduct legislative research and analysis using various legal databases (Perspective, LexisNexis and Aries), legislation and legal articles
- Review relevant consultations and assist/prepare in the preparation of responses
- Prepare and present regulatory updates as required by the business
- Attend meetings of key external pension forums such as the SPP and TPR
- Direct, relevant experience within the legal or occupational pension schemes industry
- Strong critical thinking and verbal skills, legal reasoning, communication and organisational skills
- An ability to quickly establish relevant data to identify legal issues and trends
- Ability to explain complex technical issues simply and succinctly
- Ability to provide information to different audiences – members, clients, admin teams or client managers
- Strong written and communication skills
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic, positive, flexible approach to work and be a team player
- Educated at least to ‘A’ level standard/degree depending upon relevant experience
