This role will be based in one of the following offices: Birmingham, Leeds or Reading. Flexible working arrangements will be discussed at interview. You will be required to attend the office five days a week initially as part of onboarding and training, with a gradual reduction to a minimum of two days a week in line with the flexible working policy.

Successful candidates who pass the initial application stage will be invited to attend an assessment centre, held in person in Leeds or Reading. Assessment centres are scheduled for the week commencing 23 March 2026.

About The Role

XPS Group is growing and we are recruiting multiple Apprentice Actuarial Analysts to join our team in September 2026. We are a leading UK consulting and administration business in pensions and insurance. Our vision is a vibrant workplace where difference is recognised as a strength and talented people can flourish.

Our Pensions Advisory business continues to grow, and we are recruiting several apprentices to join our Pensions Technical Team. This is an exciting role that would suit someone who is technically minded.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will join our Pensions Technical Team to provide support to our wider Actuarial Team, focusing on technical calculations for a range of actuarial work.
  • You will receive on-the-job training and support through the Level 4 Actuarial Technician Apprenticeship in partnership with BPP, including spending 20% of working hours on formal off-the-job training.
  • As part of the Pensions Technical Team, you will assist the team in meeting objectives, including but not limited to:
  • Data analysis and manipulation
  • Running and understanding our calculation software
  • Calculating the total value of pension schemes’ benefits for various purposes
  • Processing a wide variety of individual pension scheme member calculations
  • Drafting written advice to clients following our standards
  • Regular liaising with the team and other departments at XPS, and opportunities to work with other specialist teams

We are ambitious and committed to developing market-leading tools. You will have opportunities to work with our online funding software Radar, which has been recognised as Actuarial Software of the Year for the last two years. The Pensions Technical team also creates and maintains standard calculation tools used across the actuarial business.

Your Profile

This entry-level role is suitable for individuals who have recently completed A-Levels or equivalent, or those transitioning into a new career path. You will have an analytical mindset, strong numerical skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. You will value building strong working relationships and demonstrate high accuracy and attention to detail. You should be comfortable sharing your ideas and communicating them clearly to generate insights that support our objectives.

Qualifications

In line with apprenticeship eligibility, candidates should have achieved (or be predicted to achieve) a minimum of grade B at A-Level (or equivalent) in Maths.
