The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Health Worker – Senior (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health – Identified) – Head to Health Kids Queensland to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12,000-strong team is on providing world‑class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Be self‑directed and show initiative under the guidance of the Team Leader and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Professional Lead
  • Be highly organised and have a high level of attention to detail
  • Work as part of the H2HK-Q Gold Coast Services Team
  • Develop operational program plans that build cultural capacity within the health system
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of community members and liaise with external stakeholders

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Completion of the following:
  • Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
  • Diploma of Mental Health, or
  • Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against – Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us

Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) is a part of the Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) Division. Head to Health Hub Kids-Queensland (H2HK-Q) Gold Coast Service is a multi‑disciplinary, multi‑specialty service within the Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Services that delivers child centred, and family focused services driven by a strengths focused culture in line with the Whole Child Approach.

H2HK-Q Gold Coast will provide a seamless service for children under 12 years experiencing mental health and wellbeing difficulties that effectively integrates primary, secondary, and tertiary services by working in partnership across all sectors. H2HK-Q Gold Coast will operate from a service base and satellite clinics to offer care for children and their families with problems in emotional wellbeing, and behaviour that are likely to impact upon development. H2HK-Q Gold Coast works with the child, their family and key stakeholders.
