We are looking for a Senior Transport Planner. Responsibilities include planning and operations of the business, including the monitoring of all procedures to ensure full compliance.
- Monitor vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, to ensure they are kept fit and serviceable in accordance with current legislation.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day planning of vehicles and loads.
- Monitor defect recording and reporting systems and ensure drivers report promptly any defects or symptoms that could prevent the safe operation of vehicles and trailers, and that any defects are promptly recorded in writing.
- Comply with the limitations of the Operator's licence, renew and make applications as required.
- Receive and manage transport orders - sending PODs, quoting jobs, creating POs.
- Communicate daily with other managers and departments to deliver the best service.
- Having FORS knowledge would be advantageous.
- Be able to adapt and overcome any transport-related issues.
- Check and provide operational KPIs for service providers/customers.
- Operate in compliance with the operator's licence and procedures with FORS at a Gold accreditation level.
- Plan vehicle maintenance, PMIs, Tacho calibrations, and brake testing to limit vehicle downtime.
- Maintain records of all driver defect reports, all safety inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs to vehicles and trailers, making these available on request.
- Manage the execution, direction, and coordination of all transport matters within the organisation.
- Improve the saturation of the vehicles and maximise payloads.
- Implement and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Staff management and other general ad hoc duties.
Candidates need to have:
- Experience in transport planning and management of an HGV fleet in a similar role.
- CPC Transport Management (advantageous).
- FORS Practitioner (advantageous).
- HGV licence (preferred).
The right candidate for this job will be confident, organised, and efficient, have exceptional communication skills, management abilities, and be able to multi-task and cope in a very fast-paced working environment.
