Here at XPO, we take our people seriously. We’re looking for a talented Operations Manager on the night shift to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 22:00 – 07:00 to manage our Tesco operations at our Widnes depot. You’ll be leading your team to ensure overnight – time critical service levels are maintained whilst ensuring that the 350 assets are constantly compliant.

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £40,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  1. Ensure that the use of core / agency staff, own fleet / hire vehicles and subcontractors are optimised in line with business requirements (i.e resource levels are appropriate for the volumes).
  2. Manage the overall operation of the depot on a day-to-day basis ensuring that agreed targets are achieved in line with business and customer requirements.
  3. Monitor the depot’s operational activities ensuring that contractual obligations for customers are achieved, generating solutions for improvement where necessary.
  4. Support & encourage a good team working spirit and ensure that the transport team work effectively with the Planning team and communicate frequently to achieve the business objectives.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  • Understanding of key operational cost drivers and P&L or cost centre management.
  • Great People Management and Leadership skills.
  • CPC would be desirable.
  • A track record of resolving complex issues and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supervising or managing a team in a complex logistics transport environment.
