We are looking to bring in a talented Warehouse Night Shift Manager, working a 4 on 4 off pattern 6pm to 6am, for our warehouse in Bradford. As Shift Manager you will oversee a team of operatives and motivate them to do their job efficiently. You will provide daily objectives and ensure that your team meet the requirements of our stakeholders. Using effective communication, you will raise any issues with senior management to reach business goals effectively.

Pay, benefits and more: We are looking to offer a salary of up to £45,000 per annum including shift allowance. In addition, we offer 33 days holiday, including bank holidays, as well as the option to buy additional days. What you will do on a typical day:

  • Developing staff and methods of operating to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring that XPO standards of Health and Safety and quality are adhered to by colleagues and that a safe working environment is provided for the team.
  • Challenging and maintaining warehouse processes, whilst driving continuous improvement in cost saving and employee performance.
  • Ensuring high standards of housekeeping within the warehouse.
  • Managing all colleagues in the completion of their warehouse tasks in line with policy, procedure, guidelines and customer requirements.
  • Reporting of KPIs and internal efficiencies.
  • Drive a CI culture, and promote the Warehouse Team communicating ideas.
  • Producing neat and accurate written, verbal and computerised reports and spreadsheets when circumstances dictate.
  • Effective and professional communication with colleagues, the customer, sub-contractors and service providers.
  • Carrying out colleague briefings regularly.
  • Close interaction with site Management Team.
  • Management of legal and operational compliance for the department.
  • Carry out incident / accident investigations and complete relevant administration in line with Company procedures.
  • Employee Relations, including experience dealing with Disciplinary, Absence and Grievance matters.
  • Managing staffing levels, performance, recruitment, learning and development and colleague communications.
  • Leading a positive Health and Safety culture within the warehouse.
  • Building a good working relationship with the site Management Team.
  • Leading warehouse employee engagement on shift.
  • Any other duty within the remit of the role as may reasonably be requested.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  • A track record at a supervisory or management level within a fast-paced warehouse operation.
  • A strong personality with the ability to effectively manage, push for operational excellence and challenge the status quo.
  • A focus on health and safety ideally with a recognised qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH/ Continuous Improvement).
  • Previous management of MHE Operators.
  • Experience within stock and quality would be beneficial and utilisation of computerised systems.
  • Stakeholder management and effective communication skills both verbal and written at all levels.
