If you're looking for a role where no two days are the same and where your work truly matters this could be the perfect fit. We're on the lookout for a Transport Shift Operator to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent role working the night shift, Monday to Thursday, 22:00 - 06:00, Friday 18:00 - 02:00.
You’ll be at the heart of ensuring our transport operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
Pay, benefits and more: We're looking to offer a salary of up to £30,000 per annum. What you’ll do on a typical day: As a Transport Operator at our Portbury site, you'll report to the Transport Shift Manager and play a key role in keeping our night operations running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating drivers: Booking in and dispatching 40+ drivers and subcontractors.
- Gatehouse operations: Managing vehicle flow and ensuring timely loading.
- Customer communication: Handling ETAs, delivery updates, and issue resolution.
- Admin & compliance: Processing debriefs, PODs, and maintaining accurate records.
- Planning support: Assisting with transport scheduling, maintenance, and KPI reporting.
- Haulier relations: Building strong links with third-party hauliers and internal teams.
- Service excellence: Ensuring on-time deliveries and full compliance with policies.
- Flexibility: Supporting a 3-shift operation adaptability is essential.
What you need to succeed at XPO:
- 1-2 years experience working within a transport office or office environment.
- Strong communication and administration skills, able to handle different personality types.
- Great organisational skills, management capability and strong influencing skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word and Excel would be an advantage but training will be provided.
