Transport Planner - Leigh

We are looking for a Transport Planner to be based at our site in Leigh on our AB World Foods contract. As part of this busy transport operation, the role covers Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm.

Pay, benefits and more: We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £28,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:

• The planning of all shipments for our customer within the timeframes set by the SLA.
• Planning of XPO core fleet resource across all sites, with full use of TMS and associated optimisation software.
• Subcontractor planning, allocating all work through TMS ensuring haulier partners confirm jobs assigned to them with correct cost allocation.
• Representing the Planning Team in the daily Ops calls.
• Updating the Customer Services team in an accurate and timely manner ensuring that all information relating to ‘at risk’ or ‘failed’ loads is shared.
• Ensure all collections are planned and updated accordingly.
• Proactively plan any urgent orders and communicate the delivery date to the customer.
• Ensure the customer is notified in a timely manner of any date changes/ failed orders including reasons why, ensuring they are re-dated and re-planned ASAP.
• Ensure all core fleet is allocated, ensuring all fleet utilisation targets are exceeded daily.
• Immediate escalation to the supervisor for any non-conformance to the daily plan.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

• It’s important you have exposure of working in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience within transport and a good understanding of UK Geography, compliance and driver hours would be beneficial.
