Warehouse Shift Manager in Leigh

Logistics done differently. We’re currently recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Manager on the Day Shift on a permanent basis, for our site in Leigh. We’re looking for someone to lead our busy operation, ensuring the daily warehouse plan is executed safely, legally and on time. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, this role is responsible for managing the warehouse operation, ensuring customer requirements are met and company policies and procedures are followed. Supporting the Site Manager and the contract in developing the site and company procedures and ensuring customer service levels remain high and site teams are managed effectively. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the transport team ensuring they are managed in line with company policies and procedures.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £34,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday, as well as the option to buy an additional day. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Managing a team of warehouse colleagues across various shifts.
• Manage and oversee the warehouse operation.
• Daily interaction with the management team for our customers.
• Support the planning of the weekly workload and organising staff shifts to ensure all runs are covered in a cost effective and efficient manner.
• Overseeing the execution of the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with a keen eye on resources available at site, keeping the customer updated.
• Ensure all processes and procedures are followed and that we operate in a safe and efficient environment.
• Timely and accurate investigations into safety incidents.
• Provide leadership and guidance for the team and provide accurate KPIs internally and to the customer.

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• Essential: It’s important you have exposure to working in a fast‑paced environment – no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet.
• Essential: You must have experience working in a Warehouse Shift Management position – managing warehouse staff and office staff.
• Essential: Support and encourage a good team working spirit and ensure that all stakeholders work effectively and communicate frequently to achieve the business objectives.
• Desirable: Experience in working in Trade Union environments.
