As part of our continued growth and expansion, we’re looking for a talented Transport Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis as part of our fuels contract! This role is based in Tamworth. You will be expected to visit sites within your region at least once per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the plan set by the General Manager, within their region. This includes ensuring compliance with all legal and safety regulations, optimising productivity, and engaging and managing driver performance. The role is site based with a focus on regular direct, in person interaction with drivers across the region.

We’re looking to pay up to £50,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What You’ll Do On a Day-to-day Basis

  • Ensure timely and efficient fuel deliveries across the region.
  • Optimise productivity, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
  • Co‑coordinate with relevant departments to ensure that all vehicles and equipment are registered at the correct terminals and that drivers are appropriately trained for all relevant locations and delivery points.
  • Monitor and report on regional key performance indicators (KPIs) related to delivery times, fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation, and other operational metrics.
  • Ensure all regional operations comply with Company policy and current legislation including health and safety, environmental standards, and the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Promote all safety training programmes, actively encouraging a culture of safety among drivers.
  • Regularly conduct risk assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement programmes to enhance driver engagement, satisfaction, and retention including regular Town Hall style meetings.
  • Oversee driver performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and implementing performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Consistently review rota and shift patterns to ensure they remain effective and propose adjustments where necessary.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and communicative work environment, encouraging driver input and ensuring concerns are addressed.
  • Manage employee relations caseload including investigations, disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Utilise data and insights to identify trends, implement process improvements, and drive decision‑making in conjunction with the control tower.
  • Collaborate with fleet maintenance teams, workshops and control tower to resolve vehicle issues promptly and ensure efficient use of resources.

What You Need To Succeed

  • CPC (International preferred)
  • Experience in transport management, logistics, or fleet operations, preferably within the fuel or hazardous materials distribution industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing, training, and motivating drivers.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience managing ER caseload including investigations, disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Experience working in a Trade Unionised environment.
