Overview
VP of Software Engineering – £130,000 – £150,000 + bonus + equity | Hybrid (East Midlands, 2 days per week)
A high-growth, private equity–backed technology business is hiring a VP of Software Engineering to lead a global engineering function of around 100 people. This is a critical backfill role following an internal promotion to CTO presenting a chance to step into an established, high-performing environment and continue to drive scale, maturity, and delivery excellence.
You’ll report into the CTO and take ownership of engineering delivery across multiple products and regions, with direct leadership of 7–8 senior managers and wider oversight of offshore teams across the US and Romania.
This is a delivery-led, people-centric role, ideal for a technologist at heart who understands modern software engineering at scale, but whose focus is now on culture, process, and commercial impact.
What’s exciting about this one:
- Lead a 100-person global engineering function through a major replatforming and transformation programme
- Shape engineering strategy, structure, and standards across multiple international teams
- Partner closely with the CTO and exec team on technology direction, M&A integration, and long-term growth planning
- Drive engineering performance through clarity, accountability, and empowerment
- Join a PE-backed environment where delivery pace, ownership, and influence truly matter
What you’ll bring:
- Experience leading large engineering organisations (c.100 people) in a fast-paced, product-led environment
- Strong grounding in software engineering, ideally with a background in modern SaaS platforms or digital transformation
- Proven leadership through M&A and large-scale replatforming
- Ability to manage offshore delivery teams while maintaining quality and alignment
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, a safe pair of hands with the charisma to inspire
- Ambition to move into a CTO role
If you’re a proven engineering leader ready to take on strategic scale and shape the next phase of a high-growth tech business, this could be your next big move.
