Test Engineering Manager

We\’re recruiting for a Test Engineering Manager for a newly formed Engineering team within a niche financial services organisation. This is a high-impact role where you\’ll own the end-to-end test automation suite and play a key part in delivering a complex technology transformation . You\’ll combine hands-on test automation development with strategic leadership , shaping the overall test strategy and driving a quality-first culture across the organisation. What You\’ll Do Lead all testing activities for projects, transformations, and BAU. Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for SaaS products, APIs, and data pipelines. Influence tool selection and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. Perform functional and non-functional testing (performance, security, integration). Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product teams to define quality standards. Drive continuous improvement and \”shift-left\” testing practices. What We\’re Looking For Proven experience in test leadership and management , including process improvements. Hands-on experience developing automated test frameworks for APIs and backend services. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Xray, Playwright, Pytest, Pywinauto . Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases , data validation, and CI/CD integration (GitHub). Experience with Docker, Kubernetes , and cloud environments (GCP preferred). Understanding of security and performance testing methodologies. Bonus: Exposure to machine learning pipelines and testing data models. Location: West Midlands (onsite once a week) Salary: £50k-£55k + Benefits
