We are working with a Manchester-based, privately owned tech business (£1bn+ turnover last year) that is investing heavily in its engineering teams. They are looking for a Java Developer to work on a large-scale, customer-facing digital platform used by thousands of users daily. The business has also recently been ranked in the top 20 places to work on Glassdoor and has won multiple awards for progression and development - so it is a genuinely supportive and career-focused environment.
The Role
You will be joining a specialist digital team focused on delivering a best-in-class eBusiness platform. The team's mission is to simplify how customers interact with the business while improving efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness across core systems. Collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer experience sit at the heart of everything they do.
You will play a key role in enhancing and evolving a customer-facing online platform. You will work on new features, improve existing functionality, and ensure the platform remains fast, reliable, and scalable. Your work will directly impact how customers and internal teams engage with digital services.
Key responsibilities
- Translating business and technical requirements into effective development solutions
- Writing clean, efficient, and well-structured code
- Designing and implementing integrations with internal systems and third-party platforms using APIs
- Maintaining, supporting, and improving existing features
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Java, including recent hands-on use of Java 21
- Strong communicator and a can-do attitude
Nice to haves
- Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally Azure
- Experience using GitLab or similar CI/CD tools
