A leading enterprise organisation is seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to take ownership of cloud platform architecture, DevOps best practice, and data platform enablement across a complex AWS environment. This is a senior, hands-on role with strong influence across architecture, delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and evolution of large-scale AWS cloud platforms
- Own infrastructure as code standards using Terraform (modular design, remote state, Terraform Cloud/Enterprise)
- Architect and deliver secure, resilient, cloud-native solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to DevOps and platform teams
- Drive CI/CD strategy and implementation across multiple services
- Support and enhance streaming data platforms, including Kafka-based pipelines
- Operate effectively in ambiguous, enterprise-scale environments
- Engage confidently with senior stakeholders and technical/non-technical teams
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level AWS experience including: EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch
- Strong Terraform expertise (modules, state management, enterprise usage)
- Proven experience leading or architecting large-scale cloud platforms
- Solid Linux systems administration background
- Strong automation skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Deep understanding of networking, cloud security, and architecture design principles
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Proven experience working with Kafka and streaming data platforms
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive in complex, ambiguous enterprise environments
Desirable
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and processes
- ITIL certification (preferred but not essential)
