This is a transformation-focused role. You will play a key part in re-architecting and migrating existing on-premise and legacy systems to a fully modern Azure-based platform. The ideal candidate has experience moving traditional SQL workloads to scalable, resilient, and cost-effective serverless solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess current legacy SQL Server environment and create a migration roadmap to Azure.
  • Lead end-to-end migration of SQL workloads to Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or serverless architectures.
  • Design and implement serverless data architectures using Azure Functions, Event Grid, Logic Apps, etc., where appropriate.
  • Optimize database performance, security, availability, and scalability in Azure.
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies in the cloud.
  • Create and maintain documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, and migration playbooks.
  • Recommend automation strategies and support infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of traditional SQL Server environments as a DBA.
  • Practical experience migrating legacy SQL workloads to Azure.
  • Understanding of Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and serverless options.
  • Experience designing or supporting cloud-native or serverless data architectures.
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Migration Services, Azure Monitor, and cloud security best practices.
  • Strong T-SQL skills with experience in performance tuning and optimization in on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Experience with DevOps/CI-CD for data deployments is a plus.
