Senior Backend Developer – Elixir / Ruby / GoLocation: Remote (One day a month in Chester)

We’re helping a client find a Senior Backend Developer to play a key role in scaling an established IoT platform – already used by thousands of businesses across the UK and Europe. The product is gaining serious traction, and there’s plenty of opportunity to lead, influence architecture, and shape the future of the platform.

You'll balance technical excellence with execution – working closely with Product, QA, and DevOps to keep things moving fast without compromising on quality or scalability.

In the role, you’ll be:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems using Elixir and Ruby, with some Go in the mix

  • Taking the technical lead on key projects, supporting delivery while influencing the wider architecture

  • Guiding and mentoring junior engineers while setting the tone for engineering standards and delivery mindset

  • Working closely within a cross-functional agile team – collaborating to solve real-world problems at pace

  • Rolling up your sleeves when it counts – especially during high-pressure delivery periods
