SQL DBA with Azure Migration Experience – Legacy to Serverless Transformation

About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong experience in Azure cloud migration , particularly someone who has helped transform legacy SQL Server environments into modern, cloud-native, serverless architectures .
This is a transformation-focused role . You'll play a key part in re-architecting and migrating the existing on-premise and legacy systems to a fully modern Azure-based platform. The ideal candidate has walked this path before, from traditional SQL workloads to scalable, resilient, and cost-effective serverless solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess current legacy SQL Server environment and create a clear roadmap for migration to Azure.
Lead the end-to-end migration of SQL workloads to Azure SQL Database , Azure SQL Managed Instance , or serverless architectures .
Design and implement serverless data architectures using Azure Functions , Event Grid , Logic Apps , etc., where appropriate.
Optimise database performance, security, availability, and scalability in Azure.
Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies in the cloud.
Create and maintain documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, and migration playbooks.
Recommend automation strategies and support infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Bicep , Terraform , or ARM templates .
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong SQL Server DBA with deep knowledge of traditional environments.
Strong practical experience migrating legacy SQL workloads to Azure.
Solid understanding of Azure SQL Database , Managed Instances , and serverless options.
Experience designing or supporting cloud-native or serverless data architectures.
Familiarity with Azure Data Migration Services , Azure Monitor , and cloud security best practices .
Strong T-SQL skills and proven experience with performance tuning and optimization in both on-prem and cloud.
Experience with DevOps/CI-CD for data deployments is a plus
