Key Responsibilities
● Develop and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies.
● Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from initial concept through to production.
● Develop manufacturing methods, process plans, routings and supporting documentation.
● Work closely with Production and Shop Floor teams to ensure new products are introduced effectively.
● Review engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements to establish suitable manufacturing methods.
● Provide manufacturing input into engineering designs, ensuring products are practical and cost-effective to manufacture.
● Prepare manufacturing estimates, labour calculations and tooling requirements to support customer quotations and RFQs.
● Investigate production issues and implement effective root-cause and corrective-action solutions.
● Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, minimise costs and improve Right First-Time performance.
● Support the introduction of new manufacturing technologies, equipment and processes.
● Work closely with Quality to ensure manufacturing processes meet aerospace quality and customer requirements.
● Provide technical support to Production and resolve day-to-day manufacturing challenges.
● Maintain accurate manufacturing documentation and ensure processes remain compliant with company and customer requirements.
You will have:
● Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar.
● Experience within aerospace, aircraft, defense or precision manufacturing.
● Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and process planning.
● Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
● Experience supporting NPI and production introduction.
● Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
● A practical, hands-on approach to engineering.
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Production and Quality.
● A strong understanding of engineering tolerances and manufacturing requirements.
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
● Aerospace sheet metal and metallic structures.
● Aerospace assembly.
● CNC machining and machine-shop planning.
● Composites manufacturing.
● Welding / resistance welding.
● Stretch forming.
● Tooling and fixture design.
● Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
● CAD/CAM or manufacturing software.
● Aerospace quality standards such as AS9100.
