Property Claims Handler
Taunton, Somerset
Permanent
Monday Friday between 8.30 – 6pm (37.5 hours)
Up to £30,000 + Excellent benefits.
Two teams. Two stages of the claims journey. One great opportunity to develop your career.
We're looking to speak to experienced Claims Handlers who are ready for their next opportunity within a specialist property claims environment.
We're recruiting across two separate teams, each managing a different stage of the subsidence claims process. Whether your experience lies in general insurance claims, property claims or, ideally, subsidence, we'd love to hear from you.
Subsidence experience would be fantastic, but it's not essential for both opportunities. What's important is that you have a solid understanding of claims handling, enjoy dealing with people and have the confidence to manage your own workload.
The opportunities
- Early-Stage Property Claims Handler – Phase A
Working within the initial stages of the claims journey, you'll take ownership of your own caseload, supporting customers from the point a claim is referred through investigation and mitigation, towards the repair stage.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own portfolio of property claims.
- Liaising with policyholders, insurers, contractors and suppliers.
- Arranging investigations, surveys and specialist reports.
- Working alongside subsidence specialists who will provide technical advice and guidance.
- Proactively chasing outstanding information and keeping claims moving.
- Providing regular updates and ensuring customers are supported throughout the process.
Full training and technical support will be provided to help you develop your knowledge of subsidence claims.
- Repair-Stage Property Claims Handler – Phase B
Working with claims that have progressed through the initial investigation stages, you'll take ownership of the repair element, managing cases through to successful completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of subsidence claims through the repair process.
- Coordinating contractors, suppliers, surveyors and policyholders.
- Understanding schedules of repair, costs and variations.
- Arranging associated repair activities, including alternative accommodation and storage where required.
- Producing payment reports and monitoring claim reserves.
- Proactively managing timescales, resolving issues and ensuring repairs progress efficiently.
- Providing excellent customer service throughout what can sometimes be a lengthy and complex process.
This opportunity would particularly suit someone with previous property or subsidence claims experience.
Across both opportunities, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an insurance claims-handling environment – this is essential.
- Property claims experience would be advantageous.
- Subsidence claims experience would be a huge bonus, particularly for the repair-stage position.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage your own caseload.
- Confidence dealing with customers, contractors and multiple stakeholders.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Good written and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail.
What's on offer?
- Fully remote working.
- The opportunity to join an established specialist claims operation.
- Technical support, guidance and development.
- The chance to build on your existing claims experience and develop specialist knowledge.
- A supportive team environment with experienced colleagues.
Location: These are remote-working positions, although candidates based within reasonable travelling distance of Chipping Norton would be preferred.
Interested?
You don't need to be a subsidence specialist to apply. If you've got a background in insurance claims handling and are keen to develop your experience within a specialist area of property claims, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you're earlier in your claims career or bring years of technical experience, let's have a conversation.
