The Group Financial Reporting Manager owns the quality and integrity of financial reporting across the Group, spanning statutory compliance, technical accounting, treasury oversight and risk and control governance. Working in close partnership with the Financial Controller and external advisors, the role ensures the Group meets its financial reporting obligations while maintaining robust frameworks that support sound decision‑making and stakeholder confidence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts for the Group and all subsidiary entities in accordance with FRS 102, taking ownership of accuracy and on‑time delivery.
  • Produce consolidated reporting packs, group consolidations and financing statements for senior leadership and external parties.
  • Ensure financial records are complete, well‑documented and supported by appropriate audit trails in line with statutory obligations.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations across loan accounts, financing arrangements and other areas as directed.
  • Drive short‑term cash flow forecasting and day‑to‑day liquidity management, partnering with the financial controller on broader treasury strategy.
  • Prepare covenant compliance calculations and associated lender reporting schedules to agreed timelines.
  • Maintain accurate accounting treatment and disclosure for all borrowings, interest charges and financing structures.
  • Oversee the payments approval process and administration of delegated financial authorities.
  • Own group‑wide tax compliance, including preparation and submission of VAT returns and oversight of filing deadlines.
  • Manage the corporation tax cycle in conjunction with external tax advisors, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
  • Support the finance team in identifying, assessing and mitigating tax risk across the Group.
  • Lead the annual R&D tax credit submission process end to end.
  • Design and maintain a robust financial controls environment across the Finance function, keeping policies and procedures current.
  • Provide ongoing oversight of financial risk reporting, tracking key compliance and control risks to resolution.
  • Administer Group insurance programmes and support the business in the annual placement and renewal process.
  • Author technical accounting memoranda supporting material judgements, complex transactions and new standards adoption.
  • Act as an internal technical accounting resource, providing guidance and support to the wider finance team.
  • Own and maintain Group accounting policies, ensuring consistent application across all entities.

Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in the preparation of management accounts, month‑end and year‑end close processes and statutory financial statements.
  • Hands‑on experience authoring technical accounting papers covering judgemental or complex accounting matters.
  • Solid working knowledge of FRS 102 and a sound understanding of the broader UK tax landscape.
  • A confident and credible communicator, able to present financial information clearly to both finance and non‑finance audiences, in writing and verbally.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • A track record of driving process improvement and managing change within a finance environment.
