We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Monitoring Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day monitoring of merchant activity and payment transactions, helping identify unusual or suspicious behaviour and ensuring compliance with AML/CFT requirements.
Your role at xpate:
- Review sanctions, PEP and adverse media alerts.
- Perform screening using monitoring solutions such as Sumsub, LexisNexis, WebShield, G2 Risk Solutions and other internal systems.
- Conduct periodic client reviews for Low and Medium Risk clients and assist in preparing EDD reports for the higher risk tiers.
- Perform test purchases and document investigation results.
- Monitor regulatory updates and developments and merchant regulations.
- Review card scheme alerts.
- Assist with merchant integration into monitoring systems and maintain monitoring registers.
- Prepare information requests (RFIs) and control follow ups with internal stakeholders where additional information is required.
- Maintain accurate investigation records and case documentation.
- Assist with merchant termination processes and monitoring off-boarding activities.
- Escalate material findings to senior analysts in accordance with internal procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of monitoring procedures and documentation.
- Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Merchant Onboarding teams to support effective risk management.
- Keep up to date with AML/CFT requirements and emerging risks related to merchant acquiring.

- 1–2 years of experience in AML, Compliance, Financial Crime, Payments or FinTech.
- Basic understanding of AML/CFT principles.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to review large amounts of information and identify inconsistencies.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English (B2 or above).
- A willingness to learn and develop within Financial Crime and Client Risk.
