We are looking for an experienced Contract Test Manager to lead a step-change in test automation and quality across a complex, private health platform which is heavily integrated with NHS platforms. Recent incidents have highlighted the need for stronger test strategy, automation, and cross-team ownership. This role will define the direction, deliver tangible automation outcomes, and embed sustainable quality practices across internal teams and third-party suppliers.
What needs delivering:
- Own and deliver a modern test strategy covering functional, integration, regression, and non-functional testing.
- Select and implement test automation tools suited to healthcare integration and messaging environments.
- Build a first-of-type automated test pack for critical HL7, FHIR, API, and messaging flows.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams and third-party development partners to embed quality throughout the SDLC.
- Establish clear processes for test management, reporting, environment parity, and release confidence.
- Mentor and upskill testers, analysts, and developers to leave lasting internal capability.
- Act as a senior stakeholder interface, translating risk and quality into clear business outcomes.
Essential experience required:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Test Manager, or Senior Lead in complex or regulated environments.
- Strong background in test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and tool selection (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Hands-on experience with integration testing (APIs, messaging, HL7, FHIR).
- Confident working across in-house teams and third-party vendors, driving shared ownership and standards.
- Excellent communicator who can bridge technical detail and senior stakeholders.
- NHS / healthcare / regulated domain experience.
- Familiarity with clinical safety standards and interoperability.
- Experience improving fragmented or manual testing estates.
