The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex digital and technology projects within a large and fast paced organisation. This is a key role responsible for delivering multiple high value projects that support digital transformation, service improvement and organisational priorities. You will manage projects from initiation through to delivery and transition into business as usual, ensuring strong governance, financial control, stakeholder engagement and supplier management throughout the lifecycle. The role requires someone comfortable operating in a highly visible environment, providing clear reporting and assurance to senior leadership teams while driving successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end to end delivery of multiple complex digital and ICT projects
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans aligned to business objectives and approved business cases
- Manage project budgets exceeding £1m, including forecasting, expenditure tracking and financial reporting
- Establish and maintain effective governance, assurance and project control frameworks
- Produce accurate project reporting for senior stakeholders, governance boards and programme leadership
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and change control processes
- Lead and coordinate cross functional teams through matrix management
- Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams to support successful project delivery
- Manage third party delivery partners and contractual relationships
- Develop transition and handover plans to ensure projects are embedded successfully into operational teams
- Contribute towards continuous improvement across project delivery standards, governance and capability
Required Experience
- Proven experience delivering complex digital, ICT or transformation projects end to end
- Strong project governance, planning, budgeting and financial management experience
- Experience managing project budgets in excess of £1m
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proven experience working with suppliers and external delivery partners
- Strong risk, issue and dependency management experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
- Experience operating within complex enterprise or public sector environments
- Strong reporting and governance experience at senior leadership level
Desirable Experience
- Public Sector or Local Government experience
- Experience within Digital Services or enterprise transformation programmes
- Exposure to procurement and supplier management processes
- Experience working within matrix managed delivery environments
