A well‑known public sector agency at the heart of the UK's energy infrastructure is looking for an experienced UX Manager to join on a contract basis. This is a hands‑on leadership role sitting inside a complex, high‑stakes environment where the work genuinely matters. You’ll be leading UX across key digital products and services – shaping the design process, influencing product direction and making sure user needs stay front and centre throughout.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading UX strategy and delivery across one or more product workstreams
- Managing and mentoring designers, setting quality standards and ways of working
- Working closely with product managers, engineers + senior stakeholders to align design with business + user goals
- Running and overseeing user research, usability testing and insight generation
- Translating complex regulatory and operational requirements into clear, usable experiences
- Championing user‑centred design across a large, cross‑functional organisation
What you need:
- Proven experience as a UX Manager or Senior UX Lead, ideally in a large or complex organisation
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end UX process – discovery through to delivery
- Confident stakeholder management at senior level
- Experience leading and developing design teams
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working in regulated or public sector environments
- Coming from a strong agency background
- Energy sector experience is a plus but absolutely not essential
The details:
- Rate: Up to £600/day (depending on experience)
- Start: Monday, 4th May
- Length: 6 months
- Location: East Central London
- Work type: Approximately 3 days/week in the office, the other 2 days remote (cannot be changed)
- Contract type: Inside IR35 - Umbrella only (no Ltd company, no Sole Trader)
