This role owns the Dynamics 365 platform end to end, acting as the bridge between the client organisation and external consultancies delivering change. Rather than being a pure hands-on developer, this position focuses on platform leadership, strategic planning, governance, and stakeholder management, ensuring Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform evolve in line with long-term business objectives. You will set the technical and delivery direction, manage suppliers, challenge designs where needed, and translate business strategy into a clear, prioritised Dynamics roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform roadmap, aligning future enhancements with business strategy and transformation goals.
- Define and maintain platform standards, patterns, and governance across Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform.
- Lead forward planning, including platform upgrades, deprecations, scalability, and new Microsoft feature adoption.
- Act as the internal authority on Dynamics 365 capabilities and limitations.
- Serve as the primary technical and delivery interface between the client and external Dynamics consultancies.
- Translate business requirements into clear, outcome-focused briefs for delivery partners.
- Review and challenge proposed designs, estimates, and delivery approaches.
- Ensure suppliers deliver solutions that are fit for purpose, scalable, secure, and aligned to platform strategy.
- Oversee Dynamics 365 delivery across configuration, customisation, integrations, and Power Platform components.
- Ensure quality assurance, documentation, and adherence to agreed standards.
- Support release planning, environment management, and deployment governance.
- Provide escalation support for complex issues and risks.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to shape demand and manage expectations.
- Support prioritisation of the Dynamics backlog based on value, risk, and strategic alignment.
- Communicate platform direction, constraints, and delivery progress clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Ensure the platform is stable, supported, and continuously improved.
- Oversee 2nd and 3rd line support models delivered by internal teams or partners.
- Ensure change, incident, and release processes are followed.
