Role Summary

Reporting to the OPTiX Project Director (Organisation, Process & Technology in Xoserve), the Business Analyst will contribute to a broad range of initiatives across Xoserve’s change portfolios. The role focuses on eliciting, analysing and documenting current and future state processes and requirements to inform effective solution selection and delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. This position is suited to an experienced and motivated Business Analyst looking to make a meaningful impact within Xoserve’s transformation agenda.

Responsibilities

• Elicit, document, prioritise, validate, and communicate business, functional, and non-functional requirements, user stories and related acceptance criteria across projects and programmes.
• Maintain end to end traceability from business objectives and problem statements through to requirements, solution design, testing and delivered outcomes.
• Support stakeholders in shaping business needs and future-state designs, identifying risks, constraints & dependencies.
• Lead discovery activities including current-/target-state analysis, feasibility assessment.
• Work collaboratively with Solution Architects to support technology options evaluation.
• Create process maps, use case diagrams, data flow diagrams, functional specifications, and other Business Analysis artefacts.
• Ensure requirements and analysis outputs meet agreed standards and quality expectations.
• Facilitate workshops for requirements gathering, problem-solving, and solution design.
• Perform gap analysis and support business case development.
• Act as liaison between business teams, delivery teams, and external suppliers.
• Provide analysis expertise throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring solutions meet business objectives.
• Promote best practice, continuous improvement, and adherence to BA methodologies.

Specialist/Technical Expertise

Essential

• Experience in process modelling, data modelling, and requirements engineering.
• Ability to interpret, challenge, and validate complex business needs.
• Proficiency in business analysis toolsets and modelling notations (e.g., BPMN, UML).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to handle ambiguity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting complex information clearly.
• Experience developing business cases and conducting options appraisals.
• Comfortable leading workshops and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in agile and waterfall development methodologies and working in cross-functional delivery teams.
• Ability to work on a range of initiatives concurrently and comfortable managing competing priorities.

Desirable

• Professional Business Analysis qualifications (e.g. BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis; IIBA certifications).
• Experience supporting software procurement activities.
• Experience in utilities or highly regulated sectors.
