Windows DX Automation – Engineer

Location: London, UK

Contract: 6+ Months, Inside IR35

As an APO team, we are looking at streamlining and standardizing the dev VDI’s baseline footprint, provisioning, and enabling the process for developers to install required packages/apps from a central repository rather than going to the Internet.

Responsibilities:

  • Workflow: Come up with a workflow from getting the request for a new application or package from users to sourcing the same, scanning for security vulnerability, making it available on Nexus.
  • Automation: Automate or provide scripts for users to download and install the required package onto the VDIs.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor the currency of the tools/packages to make the n+1 version available or decommission any obsolete tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Infrastructure, Vulnerability/Security, L2 and dependent teams to define and operationalize the process.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation to support the process and user guides for installing or troubleshooting.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in platform engineering, tool development.
  • Security: Implement security and our sourcing compliance measures from the tools being identified up to making it available on Nexus.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members to support this service and mitigate resource dependency.

Technical Skills:

  • Working with Windows Powershell, Nexus and automation workflow tools.

Soft Skills:

  • A level of leadership skill to drive this as a service/feature within the APO shared services.
