Our Environmental Impact Assessment consultancy offering has grown significantly in recent years, supporting gigawatt scale offshore wind developments and complex EIA and HRA assessments. With ongoing expansion and the need to maintain a high standard of delivery, we are seeking an experienced consultant to help lead marine mammal assessments, mentor junior specialists, and support our subject matter experts in delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and quality assure Marine Mammal chapters for EIAs and HRAs;
  • Provide technical leadership across marine mammal impact assessment, underwater noise, survey methods, and mitigation design;
  • Support project delivery on a wide range of offshore consenting work, including wind, tidal, carbon capture and subsea infrastructure projects;
  • Mentor and guide developing consultants within the team;
  • Project manage scopes and liaise with clients and stakeholders;
  • Support us in maintaining best practice standards, client relationships, and industry leadership.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • 5 years+ experience as an environmental consultant in offshore wind, tidal, or marine energy consenting or equivalent experience;
  • Strong track record in authoring EIA and HRA marine mammal assessments for offshore projects, as well as protected species licensing;
  • Master's degree or higher in marine biology, ecology, zoology, quantitative ecology, or related field;
  • Proven expertise in marine mammals and underwater sound, and a strong understanding of stakeholder concerns including those of regulators and nature conservation bodies;
  • Solid understanding of survey and monitoring techniques;
  • Good working knowledge of mitigation measures to reduce impacts on marine mammals;
  • Confident communicator with excellent analytical and writing skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with population modelling (e.g., iPCoD) and/or collision risk modelling;
  • Familiarity with Scottish and English regulatory frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and industry best practice.
