Part of Xodus Group, Evolv Energies is at the forefront of major international projects where we bring a unique, integrated perspective and specialist engineering expertise to support offshore developers, investors and the wider construction and installation supply chain through Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design and also across Construction and Installation activities.
Our Principal Electrical Engineer - Cable Systems will have the ability to work on a variety of project scopes including offshore wind (fixed and floating), and subsea cables (transmission and distribution) projects. You will provide technical expertise and support in the definition and delivery of Electrical Engineering and Cable Systems requirements (including tendering) to support both our engineering and construction services projects.
Role Requirements include:
- A hands-on engineer with a can-do attitude and willingness to work with teams at all levels
- Degree-qualified (Chartered Engineer (CEng)) in Electrical Engineering with extensive experience (typically 12+ years) in high-voltage cable systems, including HVAC and HVDC
- Demonstrable expertise in offshore wind, subsea cables, transmission, and interconnector projects, with strong understanding of electrical design and power system performance requirements
- Proven experience working with cable OEMs, installers, TSOs/DNOs, and major project stakeholders
- Strong capability in producing and reviewing detailed engineering deliverables across Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, and Construction/Installation phases
- Effective communicator able to influence key stakeholders within and outside the organisation
- Interest in developing internal and external relationships, participating in industry working groups, and contributing to professional bodies
Primary Roles & Responsibilities include:
- Lead electrical engineering delivery for HVAC and HVDC cable systems across through Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design
- Undertake hands-on engineering including cable sizing, rating studies, thermal modelling, losses, bonding and earthing design
- Define and manage interfaces with offshore substations, HVDC converters, grid connections, and installation engineering teams
- Support concept selection, including HVAC vs HVDC optioneering and early-stage technical assessments
- Provide technical input to installation methodologies and cable protection strategies (burial, rock placement, CPS selection)
- Participate in offshore and onshore assignments, including installation support, FAT/SAT witnessing, and technical oversight during construction and commissioning
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring constructability, operability, and compliance with IEC, CIGRÉ, DNV and other standards
- Work effectively across multiple concurrent projects to deliver high-quality engineering outputs
- Collaborate proactively with multi-discipline engineering and project delivery teams and contribute to technical assurance and knowledge sharing
