About the Role

This role sits at the heart of the business, combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on employment law, labour relations, immigration, compensation and benefits, and other HR-related matters across different jurisdictions.
  • Develop and implement global HR policies, procedures, and best practices that comply with local laws and regulations and align with the company's values and objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate the legal aspects of cross-border HR projects, such as mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, outsourcing, and international assignments.
  • Lead and supervise the legal team, and collaborate with other legal functions such as corporate, compliance, and litigation.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents with internal and external parties.
  • Monitor and anticipate changes in the legal environment that may affect the company's operations and advise on the appropriate actions to take.
  • Represent and defend the company in HR-related disputes, investigations, and litigation.
  • Adhere to the organization’s information security policies and procedures, including protecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Qualifications

  • Legal degree or equivalent.
  • More than ten years of qualifying employment.

Required Skills

  • Understanding and experience working in the staffing or contingent workforce sector.
  • Strong knowledge of internal and external business practices and operations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and practices.
  • Solid grounding in employment and contract law.
  • Experience with data protection legislation.
  • In-house experience across a range of commercial agreements.
  • Well-versed in legal terminology and operations.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Communication: Communicates clearly and persuasively with legal staff, board members, executives, clients, regulators, and external lawyers, and listens actively and empathetically to understand the needs of others.
  • Research: Conducts thorough, accurate research on laws, regulations, precedents, and best practices, and synthesizes complex information into clear, concise guidance.
  • Writing: Drafts and reviews contracts, agreements, policies, reports, and memos that are clear, accurate, and compliant with relevant laws and standards.
  • Analysis: Evaluates and interprets legal issues and risks — including disputes, litigation, compliance, and governance — and provides sound, strategic advice to management and the board.
  • Critical Thinking: Applies logical and creative thinking to solve legal problems, anticipates and prevents potential issues, and adapts to changing circumstances.
  • Leadership: Leads and manages the legal team, ensuring high-quality legal support to the organization while motivating, mentoring, and developing legal staff.
