We are looking for a passionate and experienced Data Steward to join our fast-growing team! The successful candidate will join a Data Governance team responsible for collaborating with our main IT stakeholders and the business data consumers to implement standard methodologies related to data cataloguing, data issues process, implementing data quality metrics and governance model plus establishing business rules and data requirements that align with each department’s goal.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Be the eyes and ears for data-related matters within an organisation
- Engage with data champions and working groups across the organisation
- Implement standardised data process and guidelines to ensure they are being followed
- Drive consistent data accuracy, serve as an escalation point and resolve data related issues
- Create and maintain business metadata definitions, domain values and business rules
- Support Data Catalogue implementation, development, and enrichment
- Support governed change control of metadata
- Embed data ownership
- Guide and advise the business users, projects, and IT teams on meaning and use of data
- Perform execution of data issue process
- Assist in the development of data domain business rules (algorithms, calculations, processing requirements, etc.)
- Work with the Data Quality Analyst team to define data standards, business rules and embed best practice
Main requirements:
- BSc/MSc in Information Technology or any other related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in data stewardship or a similar role
- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- Sound knowledge of data governance practices and processes
- Good understanding of data quality processes
- Experience working with business, operational data and technical teams to clearly detail data governance and metadata requirements
- Experience in executing remediation activity to address quality issues, identifying data enhancements or improvements, and defining master / golden sources
- Broad understanding of client journeys in a service- and product-oriented organisation
- Strong analytical skillset
- Ability to inspire users to follow the data governance framework at the company; have a good rapport with the users, and possess business maturity
- Experience in either creating or using a data catalogue
