Role Overview: We’re looking for a motivational and supportive Football Coach to lead weekly football sessions for our weight-loss members. The focus is on fun, inclusive football that helps people get fitter, gain confidence, and enjoy being active again - not elite performance. Sessions are designed for adults who may be overweight, returning to exercise, or new to structured football. Your role is to create a safe, positive environment where everyone feels welcome, engaged, and able to progress at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver weekly football sessions tailored for mixed-ability, weight-loss/returning-to-fitness adults
  • Structure sessions with appropriate warm-ups, technical drills, small-sided games, and cool-downs
  • Adapt activities to suit different fitness levels, abilities, and confidence levels
  • Promote a friendly, non-judgemental and inclusive atmosphere at all times
  • Encourage good habits around effort, teamwork, and consistency rather than 'win at all costs'
  • Liaise with XLFC staff and coaches to align sessions with member goals and wider programme structure
  • Monitor attendance, engagement, and general progress, feeding back any issues where needed
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and safety

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • FA Introduction to Coaching Football (formerly FA Level 1) - essential or currently working towards
  • Experience coaching adults, grassroots teams, or community football programmes
  • An understanding of (or interest in) working with weight-loss/general population groups
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - able to build rapport quickly
  • A positive, encouraging coaching style focused on inclusion and enjoyment
  • First Aid certification and valid coaching insurance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Additional fitness qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Fitness/Personal Training) - desirable but not essential

Additional Details

  • Contract type: Self-employed - you will invoice XLFC monthly or as agreed
  • Frequency: 1x Weekday Evening Per Week (with potential for more as we grow and add locations)
  • Sessions: Weekly evening football session, plus occasional weekend events or fixtures where agreed in advance

Commitment

Sessions currently run on a set weekday evening, so please only apply if you can commit to a regular weekly slot on a long-term basis.

Rate: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience

Start Date: ASAP
