Reporting into Angel’s eTrade Strategy and Distribution leader, the Broker Distribution Manager will contribute to actively managing, expanding and acquiring broker relationships and working with Underwriters in the Angel Underwriting team in Chelmsford to profitably grow the UK Specialty eTrade book of business.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Helping to spearhead Angel’s Distribution proposition to actively manage and expand broker relationships. The primary purpose is to accelerate profitable sales growth and retention by supporting underwriting in achieving their profitability targets.
- Forge robust segmentation practices and robust account plans, bringing a depth of knowledge back into Angel on our suite of valued regional Brokers.
- The role is responsible for strengthening the quality and depth of relationship with Angel brokers and, in so doing, develop a pipeline of opportunities for Angel, using and presenting quality and meaningful management information.
- Play an active role in transitioning our UK eTrade Business and its performance in a rapidly changing marketplace.
- Support the eTrade strategy for the UK Business working collaboratively with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Through marketing efforts and the delivery of high quality and original solutions, enhance the reputation of Angel Risk Management and the AXA XL Network.
- The role aims to understand broker needs and match these with Angel expertise and appetite. Key in doing this will be the ability to articulate the innovative and customized solutions Angel brings to their risk management needs.
- The role holder is required to work with underwriters to retain and grow their books of business while maintaining the highest levels of account service.
- The role holder is required to ensure our broker partners deliver on the agreed services within line of business facilities within Specialty eTrade.
- Champion X-sell: Support the cross-sell process to increase product density. Understand the appetite of each line of business and encourage the sharing of opportunities across business lines.
- Deliver One AXA: Maximize opportunities with the broader AXA Group businesses to provide overall client solutions and revenue synergies to the business.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Having the experience to contribute to the strategic development of our UK eTrade Specialty business and Angel’s client and broker functions.
- Proven Sales and Marketing skills including presentation, development, communication and negotiation.
- Great technical skills with the ability to navigate a CRM system with intent, alongside manipulating data to present back to the business forms an essential part of this role.
- Regional Insurance market knowledge: Significant experience of underwriting and insurance operations experience, broking, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good insurance background with knowledge of risk managed programmes – particularly eTraded solutions and the Insurance Software House environment. Understanding of Specialty/Financial Lines is a bonus.
- Influencer and Collaborator: Develop and maintain productive working relationships with other internal leaders, clients, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters and legal counsel. Provide guidance and seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible.
- Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.
- Results Oriented: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs. Think quickly and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality. Act with a sense of urgency.
- Continuous Improvement Focused: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas. Eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills and capabilities.
