This specific position will ensure a smooth integration of our recent acquisition of Syft Analytics to accelerate our mission to provide powerful insights. Syft Analytics is the leading global cloud-based reporting, insights, and analytics platform for small businesses, accountants, and bookkeepers.
About the role:
We’re looking for a passionate Team Lead – Engineering to build a talented team and create beautiful analytics that help our customers make smarter decisions.
In this role, you’ll be supporting, coaching, and empowering your team to deliver high-quality software that makes data come to life. You’ll play a key role in crafting beautiful, insightful analytics that drive smarter decisions for our customers.
You also get to collaborate closely with our talented team in South Africa and other global teams, creating opportunities for innovation and shared success.
What you’ll do:
- You’ll hire talented engineers who share our values and set them up for success from day one.
- You’ll maintain a working environment in which your team can do their best work predictably and sustainably, and with a sense of purpose.
- You’ll make sure the team has all the information they need and the right feedback loops in place to discover and deliver valuable, usable, and buildable outcomes.
- You’ll monitor and look to support the operational health of your team and products, aiming for resilience.
- You will support your team to hone their engineering skills and grow as individuals in order to meet the capabilities required for the team.
- Your focus will be on driving engineering initiatives and ensuring the team makes progress towards their goals.
What you’ll bring:
- You’ll come with previous experience of managing software delivery and engineering teams using Lean and/or Agile techniques, complemented by an excellent grasp of modern software delivery practices and lifecycle.
- You’ll be a seasoned coach & mentor; utilizing software delivery, technical experience and expertise, offer the right knowledge, at the right time in the right way – understanding why and how people learn.
- You’ll possess high EQ and a true growth mindset; understanding that competency is not fixed but is enhanced through dedication and hard work. You’ll be self-aware, self-regulated, motivated and empathetic, with great interpersonal skills.
- You’ll have a strong understanding of the importance of Xero’s Engineering standards and practices and are able to coach teams to adhere to them.
